How we do it
Initial assessment
We audit your last 6–12 months of insert, end mill, drill and tap consumption, identifying critical items by usage frequency and line-stoppage risk.
Programme design
We define the SKU set, minimum and maximum levels, replenishment frequency and control method: GESAC smart cabinet, shelving with scanner or weekly physical counts.
Implementation and initial stock
We deliver initial stock, install a cabinet if required and train operators. Operation starts within 1–3 weeks depending on volume.
Daily operation
The operator takes what is needed. Consumption is recorded by RFID, scanner or ticket, and we replenish before the minimum level. Individual insert orders become a consolidated monthly invoice.
Quarterly review
Each quarter we compare actual and projected consumption, add or remove SKUs and adjust stock levels. The programme improves over time.
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum consumption to join?
As a practical guideline, from $40,000 MXN/month in GESAC tools. Below this, VMI operating costs do not pay off for either party.
Who owns the stock at my plant?
GESAC. Until an item is consumed by scanning or cabinet withdrawal, it remains our stock. Ownership transfers and billing occurs upon consumption. You maintain a legally supported consignment subledger.
What if I need an item outside the VMI programme?
We handle it as a regular order: quote within 24–48 h and delivery subject to availability. If it becomes recurring, we add it at the next review.
Do I need to install a smart cabinet?
Not necessarily. Shelving and a barcode scanner work for medium volumes. For larger operations, GESAC smart cabinets with user access control are more efficient and eliminate shrinkage.
